How far is it from Allen Street to a shopping center? 

Famous Racecourse Rd is less than 100m away and the new Portside Wharf is 100m in the opposite direction. There you will find a Post office, library, all the major banks, Woolworths, Coles, pharmacies, doctors, a pub, shops, cafes, restaurants, news agencies and cinemas. Toombul shopping center is only 4km from our doorstep and also there is the City only 6km down the road.  

Does my room have Internet access and phone? 

Wireless broadband Internet is available and is charged on a per month basis. There are no set up cost and no contracts. Most rooms have a telephone line. You will need to arrange connection via Telstra or Optus. 

Is there a laundry? 

Yes there are 2 laundries with coin operated washing machines and dryers. There are also 4 clotheslines for guests use. 

Can I get a meal if I am at Uni late? 

If you are going to be at Uni late you can order a late meal. 

I have special dietary requirements, will I be catered for? 

Yes we cater for dietary requests, please discuss with us as there maybe addtional cost. 

Is there parking? 

There is limited on street parking. We do recommend using public transport. 

Does my room get cleaned? 

Yes your room does get cleaned on a weekly basis. The cleaner will remake your bed with fresh linen (that is provided), vacuum your floor and empty the bin. The rest of your room is your responsibility i.e. your desk. it is also your responsibility to pick up everything off the floor for vacuming and strip your sheets off the bed and place in laundry for the cleaner. 

Do I provide my own linen? 

No Linen is provided for you. However you are welcome to bring your favorite pillow or doona cover. 

Do I have to vacate my room during the holidays? 

Our year runs for 42 weeks. During that time your room is your own and you do not have to vacate. However if you are not going to be there over night or for extended periods you will need to inform us.

What rules and regulations apply? 

Standard tenancy regulations under the Residential Services Authority apply. There is also a Residency Conditions Form that you will need to read and sign before your start your residency and Allen Street Accommodation. 

What is security like? 

All rooms are individual locked and there are security doors fitted to every external door. The house is locked up at 11pm every night. There is also a live in on-site manager who is contactable 24 hrs a day, as well as the added bonus of  that do 24hr security patrols and security cameras are fittted on the premesis. 

 What is in a shared room?

In a shared room there are 2 beds, in most shared rooms there are 2 desks and 2 clothes cupboards. One of our shared rooms has it's own ensuite, whilst 2 others have the great outlook of their own deck.
